VALORANT Champions 2026: how LOUD made history in Shanghai
VALORANT Champions 2026 ended on October 18, 2026 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, where LOUD beat Team Vitality 3:1 in the Grand Final. The win made LOUD the first team ever to lift the Valorant world title twice. The same event closed the franchise era of the VCT, and it is where Riot revealed Hush, the 30th agent.

What VALORANT Champions actually is
VALORANT Champions is the annual world championship of the VALORANT Champions Tour — the one tournament that decides who is the best team on the planet for that season. It sits at the top of the pyramid: regional leagues feed into international Masters events, and the season then resolves at Champions.
It is the only Valorant event whose winner is called a world champion. That single fact is the whole difference between Champions and the Masters events that run earlier in the year.
Where and when Champions 2026 was held
The 2026 edition took place at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, China, and it concluded on October 18, 2026. By the time the final ended, an entire season of regional play and international events had come down to a single series.
A Chinese host city also gave the event a neat piece of symmetry: the agent revealed on that stage, Hush, is the third Valorant agent from China, after Sage and Iso.
The Grand Final: LOUD 3:1 Team Vitality
The Grand Final put LOUD, representing the VCT Americas league, against Team Vitality of the VCT EMEA league. LOUD won 3:1 to take the title.
That result made LOUD the first team in Valorant history to win the world championship twice. Their first title came at Champions 2022 in Istanbul — four years and one continent earlier.
For Team Vitality, the run ended one series short of the trophy after a deep bracket run from the EMEA side of the draw.
Where Hush was revealed
Hush was revealed at the Grand Final itself. Riot’s official trailer, Rise and Fall, was screened to the live Shanghai crowd immediately after the opening performance.
It was the first full look at the 30th agent and the ninth Duelist — a telekinetic playmaker from Guangdong, China. For the full breakdown of what the trailer showed, see the Hush reveal page and the agent trailer page.
Hush then went live on October 27, 2026 with Season 26, Act VI, less than two weeks after the reveal.
Why Champions 2026 is the end of an era
Champions 2026 is the final Champions of what the scene calls the franchise era. The VCT has run on a partnered-league model, and this edition closes that chapter: from 2027, the VCT returns to an open qualifier format, where teams can earn their way to the top instead of holding a league slot.
That makes this edition a line in the sand. Everything after it — how teams qualify, how the season is shaped — looks different from the season that just ended in Shanghai.
What it means for the next season
The other international marker of the year was Masters Santiago, won by Nongshim RedForce. The next Masters is set for London, which puts the first international event of the new era on the calendar.
Between the return of open qualifiers and a brand-new agent entering the pool on October 27, the 2027 season starts from a genuinely different baseline. The VCT format guide explains how the tiers and the qualifier change fit together.
